Bach Prelude and Fugue in F# major

This is one of Bach’s most joyful and irrepressible pairings – in the key with 6 sharps, i.e. all the black notes! I recorded this (along with the F sharp minor, G major and G minor) on the first Saturday of an unusually hot bank holiday weekend. While I love preparing these works for recording, I don’t enjoy the recording process itself – even though it’s easy for me to press the record button on my tablet. I’m never happy with the finished result and I think it’s because I discover new things in each piece every time I play it – except when I repeat them several times over in an attempt to achieve perfection. It’s not possible! The version here, recorded in the afternoon is twelve seconds faster than one I did early in the morning.
