This reminds me of one of my former pupils, Ian, who studied the prelude and fugue with me in 1996 in preparation for his Grade 8 exam. He was a Liverpool fan, but coped with his team losing to Manchester United in the FA Cup final that year as it was ‘my’ team! It felt quite fitting that I recorded this the day after Liverpool had won a European cup final. The prelude is a gentle pastoral piece, made for sunny days, followed by a 3-part fugue.
